Privacy notice
How we use personal information.
Last updated: 16 September 2026.
Who is responsible
Alan W Gallagher trading as House of Carol is the data controller. Postal contact: 116 Knole Lane, Bristol, BS10 6RY, United Kingdom. The customer-facing email identity is alan@houseofcarol.co.uk.
The website enquiry form is temporarily active through Formspree while the House of Carol domain and branded email receiving route are commissioned. The branded email route must not be treated as active until the site states otherwise.
Current website enquiry state
The website enquiry form currently submits the information you enter to Formspree, which provides the temporary form-processing and delivery route. This temporary arrangement will be reviewed when the House of Carol domain and branded email infrastructure are ready.
What we collect and why
When you use the website enquiry form, House of Carol may collect your name, email address, message and other information that you choose to provide so that we can read, respond to and administer the enquiry. Please do not provide unnecessary sensitive information, passwords, credentials or confidential files at the initial-contact stage.
For ordinary business enquiries, our expected lawful basis is legitimate interests in receiving and responding to relevant enquiries. The legitimate interest is operating the business and answering people who choose to contact it. Where you ask us to take steps before entering into a contract, processing may also be necessary for that purpose. We do not add enquiry details to a marketing list without a separate lawful basis.
Who receives the information
Formspree, Inc. acts as the temporary website-form processor for enquiries submitted through this site. Formspree's published security information states that its service is hosted using Amazon Web Services in the United States and that it relies on Standard Contractual Clauses as a data processor. This means form submissions may be processed outside the United Kingdom. House of Carol will keep this temporary route under review while its own domain and branded receiving route are commissioned.
Email or related records may also be processed by the provider used for an authorised email route. We do not sell enquiry information or use it for unrelated marketing without a separate lawful basis.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries only for as long as reasonably needed to respond, manage any resulting business relationship, meet legal or record-keeping duties, or resolve a dispute. Enquiries that lead nowhere are reviewed and deleted when they are no longer useful or required.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict your information and, where the legal conditions apply, other rights under UK data-protection law. Contact us to exercise a right. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Right to object
Where we rely on legitimate interests, you have the right to object to that processing. We must stop unless there are compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is needed for legal claims. The right to object to direct marketing is absolute.
Cookies and analytics
This website does not currently use analytics, advertising trackers or non-essential cookies. If that changes, this notice and any necessary consent mechanism will be updated before use.
